Alexander Novak meets with Turkish Minister of Trade Ömer Bolat

Russia, Feb 20,2026 (The Hind Canadian Times) : During his working visit to Turkiye, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak held talks with Turkiye’s Minister of Trade and Co-Chair of the Russian-Turkish Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation, Ömer Bolat.

The discussions focused on expanding bilateral economic cooperation, including in trade, finance, banking, and industrial areas.The Deputy Prime Minister noted that trade and economic ties between the two countries remain dynamic and resilient. He added that by the end of 2025, trade turnover between Russia and Turkiye had grown in physical terms.

Investment ties between the two countries continue to expand, with the volume of accumulated Turkish direct investment in Russia steadily increasing. Efforts to sustain positive trade momentum are ongoing, including the removal of barriers to bilateral commerce and the growing use of national currencies in mutual settlements.

Industrial cooperation is also advancing at a strong pace. Turkiye remains one of Russia’s key industrial partners, with major joint manufacturing projects being implemented in both countries. “Russia and Turkiye maintain a relationship built on trust and constructive engagement across a broad range of bilateral and international issues. We are successfully advancing mutually beneficial projects and remain committed to further expanding and deepening cooperation with our Turkish partners,” Alexander Novak said.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the Deputy Prime Minister invited Ömer Bolat to attend the Caucasus Investment Forum, scheduled for 17–19 May, 2026, in Mineralnye Vody, as well as the St Petersburg International Economic Forum, which will take place on 3–6 June, 2026.
