Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif chaired the meeting about agriculture, wheat policy, important decisions and approvals.

Lahore, 21 April 2025 (The Hind Canadian Times) : Punjab has given a record package to wheat farmers across Pakistan. Apart from Punjab, no subsidy or significant aid is being given to wheat farmers in any province. Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has given a total package of 110 billion rupees to wheat farmers for the first time in the history of the province. A special meeting was held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif in which important decisions were approved. Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has approved the aid package of Wheat Farmer Support Program worth 25 billion rupees for wheat farmers. Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif directed to give 5 thousand per acre to wheat farmers. Farmers will get 25 thousand rupees for 5 acres of wheat. Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif ordered further reforms to make flour mills bound to purchase at least 25 percent of wheat. Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has approved the "Electronic Nick Warehousing Reset" policy and the notification has been issued. Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif directed the provincial agriculture minister to monitor the wheat procurement campaign. The Price Control Department will support the wheat procurement campaign. Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has ordered Bank of Punjab to establish a credit line of Rs 100 billion. In the briefing in the meeting, it was stated that through Kisan Card, wheat farmers purchased agricultural inputs worth about Rs 55 billion. 10 billion rupees subsidy was given to wheat farmers on 9500 tractors. 1000 tractors were given free of cost to wheat farmers at a cost of Rs 2.5 billion. Farmers were given subsidy of Rs 8 billion for tubewell solarisation. In the briefing, it was further informed that Rs 8-billion subsidy is being given to the farmers on 5 thousand super seeders. Around 25 billion rupees will be given to wheat farmers under Farmer Support Program per acre. The farmer who grows the most wheat across the province will get an 85-horse power tractor worth Rs.45 lakh free of cost. The runner-up farmer in the province-wide wheat cultivation competition will get a 75-horse power tractor prize of Rs.40 lakh. The third highest wheat grower in the province will get Rs 35 Lakh 60 கர் power tractor. The briefing said that the highest wheat grower in each district will get Rs 10 Lakh, second place Rs 8 Lakh and third will get Rs 5 Lakh. In total, farmers will get Rs 10 crore 40 lakh as reward in wheat cultivation campaign. Agriculture Internship Program worth Rs 1.5 billion was launched to guide wheat farmers in Punjab. 1000 interns are in the field to guide and support wheat farmers across the province. Agiti cotton farmers will get Rs 25,000 per block for a total of Rs 37.5 crore. Active participation of stakeholders and every citizen is essential. Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif said that we should all take responsibility for our environment and be a part of this solution.
