Lahore, 19 Jan 2025 (The Hind Canadian Times) : A delegation of 65 members from India reached Pakistan through the Bagha-Attari border in the three-day World Punjabi Conference being held in Lahore from the 19th. This delegation has come to participate in the conference on the invitation of former Pakistani Minister Fakhar Zaman.

The Indian delegation is being led by the coordinator of the Indian chapter of the World Punjabi Conference, Sehajpreet Singh Mangat, Chairman Dr. Deepak Manmohan Singh, Eminent poet and Chairman of Virasat Lok Akademi Gurbhajan Singh Gill. The theme of the conference this time is Sufism. Various papers are to be read in it and there will also be discussions. The delegation that came to Pakistan includes personalities associated with the fields of literature, art, culture and journalism, as well as former IAS and IPS officers have joined the delegation. Other personalities included in the delegation include Dr. Sukhdev Sirsa, Darshan Singh Buttar, Kahan Singh Pannu, Gurpreet Singh Toor, Jang Bahadur Goyal, Amrit Kaur Gill, Pammi Bai, Doli Guleria and Sunita Dhir. The delegation is also scheduled to visit Nankana Sahib, Kartarpur Sahib, Gujranwala and Kasur.

Today, on the first day of the World Punjabi Conference, Chairman Fakhar Zaman gave the keynote address at the inaugural session and welcomed the guests who came to the conference. After that, the chief guest addressed the guests who were specially present on the occasion of the inauguration of the conference. Deepak Manmohan Singh and Sehaj Preet Singh Mangat of the India Chapter of the World Punjabi Conference also addressed. Two pamphlets on Sufi traditions were read. In addition, the history of Sufi traditions from Baba Farid to Ghulam Farid was highlighted. On this occasion, Fakhar Zaman presented a documentary on Sufi poets.
