Punjab Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema addressed the gathering and said the teachings of Sri Guru Ravidas Maharaj Ji remain highly relevant in today's society, as they inspire people to rise above caste, creed and social divisions and work towards equality, social justice, harmony and universal brotherhood. He said the Punjab Government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, is organising a series of programmes across the state to commemorate the 650th Prakash Purb of Sri Guru Ravidas Maharaj Ji.
Accompained by Halqa Incharge Pawan Teenu, Deputy Commissioner Varjeet Walia, Mr. Cheema said the government has undertaken several initiatives to take the life, philosophy and teachings of Sri Guru Ravidas Ji to every section of society. As part of the celebrations, grand Kirtan Darbars are being organised at different locations across Punjab, while specially designed publicity vans, flagged off by the Chief Minister, are travelling across the state and screening documentary films on the life and teachings of Sri Guru Ravidas Ji in more than 12,000 villages.
The Finance Minister said another significant initiative is the plantation of 6.50 lakh saplings across Punjab to mark the 650th Prakash Purb besides school level events across Punjab. He also highlighted the establishment of the Sri Guru Ravidas Ji Bani Adhiyyan Centre near Dera Sachkhand Ballan on 11 acres of land, aimed at promoting research, study and wider dissemination of the sacred Bani and philosophy of Sri Guru Ravidas Maharaj Ji.
The Minister said the Punjab Government was committed to turning the Guru's message of equality and social justice into a reality and called upon people to draw inspiration from his teachings in their daily lives. He said the ideals of humility, compassion, truth, selfless service and universal brotherhood shown by Sri Guru Ravidas Ji could help build a peaceful and progressive society. He also highlighted that drone shows were also adding charm to these celebrations by further spreading Guru Ravidass Ji's message in a mesmerising manner.
Dera Sachkhand Ballan chief Sant Niranjan Dass Ji, who participated in the Kirtan Darbar as the special guest, blessed the congregation and emphasised the importance of carrying forward the spiritual and social message of Sri Guru Ravidas Maharaj Ji. His presence added special spiritual significance to the occasion and was warmly acknowledged by the organisers and devotees. Prominent Sants from different religious organizations were also present on the occsssion.
Chairman of the Punjab State Cooperative Bank and Halqa In-charge Adampur Pawan Kumar Teenu, who hosted the event at Dana Mandi, Adampur, welcomed Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema and Sant Niranjan Dass Ji. He expressed gratitude to the dignitaries, saints and devotees for participating in the Kirtan Darbar and said such gatherings provide an opportunity for people to reconnect with the timeless teachings of the Guru. He called himself fortunate enough to have an opportunity such a sacred event in his constituency so that people of Adampur can get connected with the divine Bani of Satguru Ravidass Ji Maharaj. He stated that for the first time any Government has held Parkash Purab at such a grand scale which will always be remembered by people.
Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Varjeet Walia and Additional Deputy Commissioner Amarjeet Bains were also present on the occasion.
The congregation was enriched by devotional Gurbani Kirtan by prominent Ragis, whose soulful renditions created an atmosphere of spiritual bliss. Gurbani Katha also highlighted the life, teachings and philosophy of Sri Guru Ravidas Maharaj Ji, urging devotees to embrace the ideals of equality, humility, devotion and selfless service. Likewise, prominent singers Dalwinder Dyalpuri, Kanth Kaler, Sufi Singer Kulwinder Kinda, Parvez Alam also gave musical performances to connect devotees with Guru Ravidass Ji's life and teachings.
