Punjab, 12 Jan 2025 (The Hind Canadian Times) : Exuberant cheers, crackling flames, and the sweet aroma of “Gajak and peanuts” filled the air at Emm Aar International School, Adampur, as students celebrated Lohri with gusto. Led by Class XII students, the school ground transformed into a vibrant arena of cultural extravaganza.
A crackling bonfire, the heart and soul of Lohri, became the focal point of the festivities. As the flames danced towards the sky, students and staff, including Coordinator Mrs. Ridhi Dadhwal, Miss. Navjot, Mr. Kamal Thakur, Mr. Narender Kumar, Mr. Sulinder Singh, Mr. Amrik Singh and Mr. Ajay, Mr. Ravi, Mr. Mukesh, gathered around in joyous revelry. Traditional folk songs like "Sunder Munderiye" and "Dhol Di Dhun" filled the air, accompanied by rhythmic dhol beats that set hearts thumping with excitement.
Students offered prayers to the holy fire, seeking blessings for good health and prosperity. The ritualistic throwing of popcorn, peanuts, and sugarcane into the flames symbolized letting go of the old and welcoming the new with open arms.
Gracing the occasion and adding to the joyous spirit was School Chairman Dr. Sarav Mohan Tandon, Director Principal Dr. Ashish and CEO Mohit Shinde extended their heartfelt wishes for a happy and prosperous Lohri to all students and staff.
The Lohri celebration at Emm Aar wasn't just about merrymaking; it was also a celebration of community, tradition, and cultural heritage.
